I have a Masters and Ph.D. in Psychology from Miami University. I also earned a certificate in college teaching. Before my graduate study, I graduated cum laude from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Mathematics.
Experience
I have extensive experience and training in tutoring and teaching. Training: -Multiple courses/practicum in K-12 education and the psychology of learning and memory -Certificate in College Teaching -Certified Academic Coach Experience: -I have tutored clients in a large range of subjects and standardized tests, including algebra, geometry, psychology, standardized tests, SAT, ACT, and GRE. -I taught Social Psychology and Psychology Stats and Methods at Miami University. -I coordinated a tutoring and resource center for psychology majors where I tutored statistics and writing. -I taught a workshop on the math section of the GRE. -I have worked in college admissions and advising. My Philosophy: When tutoring, I am very patient and work to explain things in multiple, relevant ways. I focus not only on memorization, but also on critical thinking skills. My ultimate goal is that my clients will learn the principle behind the problem they are working on and build on that knowledge to solve new and different problems.
